Battlestats Technical

General

"What is Battlestats?" and "What is WoW?" These are some of the most common questions that people ask me when they join. Battlestats.com (known as BSC from now on), is just what it's name implies. It is a site that gathers statistics from Multiplayer gaming battles. What Battlestats is not, is a gaming server. Games are played online through the regular methods, and BSC will just gather the data that you report to them. They host different events, and they record the outcomes of those matches by reports filed by one of the players.

Their main event is called Week of War (WoW), and takes place once a month for every game that they support. Each game has it's assigned week and most popular games don't conflict, for example Jedi Knight's WoW starts on the 1st Friday of every month, and X-Wing Alliances WoW starts on the 4th Friday of every month. WoW's usually attract the best players that don't have the time to be on all the time, so it is often a very competitive event. (Come prepared to be slaughtered, and don't be discouraged when you lose it happens to the best of us)

Managing Accounts

To use BSC you will need an player account, and from that account you can make player files for the club you join. In order to avoid people cheating the system (reporting false matches in which both people in the fight are the same person), BSC will only assign you one account.

To find out who people are they ask for your e-mail address, two people can't use the same e-mail address with BSC. If you are thinking about using a hotmail account, don't. BSC is aware of most free-email accounts and have blocked people from putting them as their main e-mail. But if you don't want your parents e-mail getting flooded with Battlestats match confirmations, you can enter a second e-mail address. The first e-mail will be used for confirmation, but the other e-mail will recieve all the mail that BSC will send.

Joining a club on BSC

You've got an account, why join a club? Because you can't really participate in anything without being in a club, and they will sign you up for events like WoW automaticaly. The Club admin will just sign the whole Squad up for the event (you should check to see if your club is signed up before you play any games for an event). The main reason for joining is that when someone tries to submit a match and they look for your pilot, they won't be able to find you if you and your club aren't signed up.

There are two times you can join a club, when you start an account and after you allready have an account. The easiest is to do it when you are first starting your account, and it will automatically ask you what club you are joining in "Step 2". In Step 2 of your sign-up they will ask you for the Club ID, Club Initials, and other things. You only need to put in one thing to identify your club, you won't need both the ID and the Initials. Also, they will ask you for info for your club pilot. You won't need to add the club prefix ("FTS_") to your pilot name, because sometimes it will cause you to have two of them in your name ("FTS_FTS_pilotname"), so just follow the instructions on the page and you should be fine.

To join a club after you have an account you will need to go to your "Edit Player Profile" page. You can get there by clicking on the Red button at the top right with the tools, or go to this site: http://www.battlestats.com/players/edit/. When you get there, you should see a few lines that you filled out earlier when you made your account. Click on the "NEW CLUB" button at the bottom of your info in the Green band. You will be taken to a sign-up screen much like the one that you would use if you were joining a club when you created your account. Just fill out the form and Sumbit your Request.

Once you submit your join request, you will need to wait for someone to approve your request to join. When you are completely finished your name should appear in the club roster. FTS's Roster can be found here: www.battlestats.com/clubs/view/members/?1987.

Events

There are allways events being hosted by BSC, so go check them out. If you look at the top of your screen there should be a "GAMES" link, click that and you be taken to a list of games that BSC keeps track of. Click on the game that you want to check out, and it will take you to a summary of Current/Future events taking place in that game. This is a good way to find WoW's and other events that your club is participating in. When you click on an Event name it will take you to the events Info page. From the Info Page you can do all sorts of things, such as view Rules, Submit Matches, Submit Disputes and Check results. Definetly Bookmark the info page of any event you will be submiting more than one match in.

Submiting Matches

Finally the stuff that BSC is built on, submiting matches. After you finish a game, BSC just doesn't magically know that you were playing a WoW game and the results of it. One of the players (just one because if both of you submit there will be two records of one game), must submit the match results. First of all you should take a screenshot of the match results (even if you aren't submitting because the other person may lose it or something), then you should head over to the event info page. For more Screenshot info visit the JK Tech and XWA Tech pages. And for more info on submitting matches look at this BSC Help Page.
